Tips How to Overcome Exam Stress
Dr. EVA J. HOFFMAN PhD

One way to let go of unwanted tension
Whenever you start feeling a knot in your stomach and your
heart beat faster,
brain
  • take a soluble tablet of calcium or vitamin C.
  • imagine that this tablet symbolises your stress.
  • take a pen and write on the tablet a big letter S.
  • fill a glass jug with water and drop the tablet into the jug.

Sit comfortably and breathe deeply,
watching the tablet slowly disappear...
Imagine it is your stress dissolving...
There may be a little of it left at
the bottom of the jug but it won't
make much difference to the solution.

Here is what DOES NOT HELP:
negative self-programming: saying over and over again.

I am so stressed It's all too much for me.
I hate exams, they make me so nervous!

  • too little sleep.
  • lack of exercise (at least some...) and fresh air (oxygen!!!).
  • inadequate preparation.
  • getting stressed over grades!
brain

Here is what DOES HELP:
focusing on positive self-programming.

  • getting enough sleep.
  • some exercise and plenty of fresh air.
  • adequate preparation.
  • LETTING GO OF THE RESULT!

Every time you think or are about to say
    something about stress and exams,
say to yourself: delete! delete! delete!
and clear your mind of unhelpful thoughts.
